Temple Quarter Enterprise Zone
22nd February 2012
Temple Quarter was named as an official Enterprise Zone by the West of England Local Enterprise Partnership in 2011. This status could mean the area is set to act as a magnet for inward investment and boost the local economy by creating thousands of new jobs.
The selected Enterprise Zone covers 70 hectares (137 acres) of land surrounding and to the north and east of Temple Meads railway station. The added attraction of centering the zone around the railway station means that Temples Meads railway looks set to become a major transport interchange which is great news for potential purchasers at The Eye. It is estimated that over 250 businesses could be accommodated and that nearly 17,000 new jobs could be created by this news.
Since receiving Enterprise Zone status, Temple Quay has already attracted new occupiers who already have plans for growth; LICenergy UK Ltd. who moved into serviced offices within the Temple Quarter Enterprise Zone, plans to recruit up to 20 engineers, draughtsman and administrative staff over the next two years.
Stuart Gaiger of The PG Group said, “We are pleased to be instrumental in developing only first residential scheme on the Enterprise Zone and are looking forward to the launch in Spring 2012 ”.
